When I work with Mammas to build their resumes, I encourage them to see the document as a story. You are telling the recruiter or hiring manager your story (both personal and professional).
When you see your resume as a story, it helps you fill in gaps, share relevant information, and give the reader a great idea of both your skills and also your organizational fit.
It is also a great starting point, if you are like many and beginning your resume from scratch. Sit down first and point form you career story, often this helps in building your resume (as when we sit down the write a resume we often feel a mental block!)
For those of you who have a copy of your current resume, give it a review from the perspective of it being a story - what is missing?
