This mad me reflect on my childhood, realizing the same was true for me. When I was young, the moments that stood out were the ordinary rather than extraordinary (i.e. trips, vacations etc.)
It also made me realize as adults the ordinary can, on occasion, be missed or quickly passed by in our life. I started a practice of thinking about the highlight of my day at bedtime - the moment that gave me the most joy in each day. I realized they were the ordinary... morning coffee with my husband, colouring with my daughter, reading a story with my son.
When I give returning mamma talks, I often tell attendees about research I read about in "What successful people do before breakfast"; you get more joy and pleasure out of the anticipation of an event rather than the actual doing of the event.
This summer, get the most out of the sun and fun by planning and eagerly anticipating those beautiful ordinary moments.
I looked forward to having a water table tea party with my daughter all week (she eagerly anticipated it as well). It was a great moment in our weekend.
What are you planning for next weekend?
