Many of us set our alarms for the last second before we have to hurl ourselves out of bed and race, race, race to get out the door. We view the morning as a functional time - get dressed, brush our teeth, make lunches, eat breakfast and then fly out the door.
What if you set your alarm 30 minutes earlier? How would you use the time?
Perhaps you could use it to get ready so you could spent quality time with your child(ren) / family before heading off in different directions for the day? (Some snuggles, stories, colouring - what a great start to the day?)
Perhaps you could fit in some morning fitness so that you could free up your afterwork time or reinstitute that fitness routine?
Perhaps it is a time to drink your coffee and think in peace?
We often spend our weekdays running. What if you started your day on your terms? What if you enjoyed a snuggle and a bit of a slower pace before work? How would that impact the rest of your day?
For me, I use the hour before the rest of my family wakes up to run, shower, and organize my calendar and to do list for the day. When my family wakes up, I feel ready and able to enjoy that quiet time together before our work day begins. Starting my day this way makes all the difference.
A note: If you are getting up earlier, make sure you don't just cut back on your sleep (adjust your bedtime) :)
