Until something stops me.
And something stopped me dead in my tracks this week.
I was running errands, about a million of them (exaggeration), and found myself getting carried away in my list. I ran into the grocery store to grab one thing. It was school lunchtime and the grocery store was full of high schooler from down the street. Bottom line, it was busy, and busy fuels this side of me.
As I flew to the checkout, it happened.
The woman in front of me, who had been lined up behind many of those high school students, looked at me and said, "Is that all you have?". As it was, she insisted I go in front of her. I chatted with her, and felt myself slowly coming back down to the ground. She brought a genuine, giant smile to my face. She impacted not only my day, but my week. I have been thinking about that moment, going over and over it.
Then today, I let a gentleman go ahead of me at the post office. His genuine, giant smile made me realize that 'paying it forward' was the way to keep my feet on the ground and the smile on my face. The past few days I have been looking for every opportunity to 'pay it forward', and in doing so, have really been living life and appreciating all that is around me.
I won't be flying anywhere anytime soon!
What keeps your feet on the ground?
