One major battle during a return-to-work transition is often a sick little one - whether it is cold, pink eye, the flu, hand-foot-mouth (any Mammas nodding along right now??). It happened with my first and it is happening with my second. They catch everything in those first months of daycare, and then they generously bring it home to share with the whole family.
Since my little guy began his daycare journey at the beginning of April, someone in my house has been sick each and every weekend. We have been cancelling plans due to illness, and that key transition tip I give Mammas (plan your next day off on your last day off, so you can anxiously anticipate the fun you are going to have) isn't working as we have to cancel all those anxiously anticipated plans.
After a few consecutive weeks of germs it gets tough - what to do now?
FOCUS ON YOU!
Fuel yourself, Mamma. Create white space (that awesome block of time that is completely unplanned until the moment it begins and you do whatever your heart desires). Workout, get manicures, go for coffee with friends, meditate, get outside and find ways to give to yourself, so that you can show up as your best self to everyone around you.
It is amazing how taking a little bit of time for ourself can truly impact everything going on around us.
